We just got in some wonderful old items from a late 1700’s colonial farmhouse in Scituate, RI.  I snapped a few pictures to show you.  Come on in before someone snaps them up!

Tracey and her hubby have just purchased a new “old” home and it inspired her to re-do our in-store dining room over in the Old Farmhouse style.” Here are a couple of pictures.  I love the pitch forks hung on the wall.  Who else but trace would think to do that?  I am not so sure about letting the little piggy stay in the dining room as he could be a little messy.  The yellowware bowls look great on the shelves of the red hutch.

post OOPS Sale! 05/17/08 & 05/18/08

May 14th, 2008

Filed under: Events — Deb @ 3:36 pm

The girls and I have been doing some spring cleaning at the store and I have uncovered a treasure trove of what we call “oops merchandise.”  Well, now all of our long time customers are very familiar with this term, but for all the newbies out there, I will explain it.

Oops merchandise happens when someone picks up a candle to give it a sniff and bam; it slips from their hand and hits the floor.  Now the candle has a slight blemish on the corner, but still smells wonderful and will certainly serve its intended purpose.  Should we throw it away?  Heck no!  Mark it down to a silly low price and send it off to the Oops box (or in this case boxes!)

We sometimes get items in that have been slightly damaged in shipping, or we take down some curtains, bedding or other textile that was used in a display.  These all make their way to OopsLand.

I can not throw anything out.  I call my house the land of the misfits because that is where these oops items used to go before I came up with the idea of offering them to you at extremely low mark downs.  If you ever come over to visit my home, don’t be turning my bowls around because you will see the chips, and don’t take out your magnifying glass as you will see the scratches in my picture frames….you know, stuff like that.

We are going to drag these items out of Oops Land and onto the porch for the weekend (5/17 & 5/18) and have an Oops Sale.  Come on by and snap up some bargains.  This is always a popular part of our tent sale in the Fall, but we have so much, we want to do it early this year.

“Hey Breanna, do you think I can work here when I grow up too?”

Gorgeous Miss Marley loves to shop at Things Made Wonderful with her Mom Jill.  Why wouldn’t she with all the attention she gets from all the staff at TMW.  Our associates Eden, Jaimi and Breanna were all having fun watching Marley while her Mom happily shopped.

Quotes about Mothers:“All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel Mother.” - Abraham Lincoln

“The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother.” - David O. McKay

“A mother is not a person to lean on, but a person to make leaning unnecessary.” - Dorothy Canfield Fisher

Some Typical Motherly Advice:

· Make sure to change your underwear always; you never know when you’ll have an accident.

· Don’t make that face or it’ll solidify in that position.

· Be careful or else you’ll put your eye out.

· What if everyone jumped into a well? Would you do it, too?

· You have enough filth behind those ears to grow potatoes!

· C’mon close that door! Were you born in a barn?

· If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

· Don’t put that thing in your mouth; you don’t know where it’s been!

Mothers Day Humor

· The mother of three notoriously unruly youngsters was asked whether or not she’d have children if she had it to do over again. “Yes,” she replied. “But not the same ones.”- David Finkelstein

· “The hand that rocks the cradle usually is attached to someone who isn’t getting enough sleep.”- John Fiebig

Happy Mothers Day to all the Moms!

Congrats to Kathryn O. of W. Warwick.  She was the lucky Mom who won the basket!
