If you are looking for a creative way to tie back your curtains, look no further.  Liz came up with this adorable idea using our tiny baskets, which come in several colors and sayings such as Faith, Live, Love, and Laugh.  She tucked in our small flower sprays and attached it to a homespun ribbon.  The piece of homespun wraps around your curtain to tie it back.  Viola…. Instant tie back. tieback2.JPG

Jill M. wrote:  I thought I would let you know and all other loyal customers that the brown bags in various sizes that I have accumulated since the beginning of the year will be recycled for wrappings for my Christmas gifts this year.  I never throw out a brown handle bag… a sickness of mine!  But I have been, for the past four or so years, using them as wrapping for my gifts.  Needless to say, I use raffia, ornaments and lots of hot glue to decorate them, but they are handy and its another way to recycle them.  Last year I took the time to make an ornament to tie on each one and everyone loved them!  Some even were saving them to use again this Christmas.

post Need an easy quick solution to hanging decorative items on your home’s vinyl siding? 04/11/08

April 11th, 2008

Filed under: New Stuff — Deb @ 7:52 pm

We’ve got the solution for hanging decorative items on vinyl siding without drilling or hammering!  When I heard about these great little hooks, I knew we had to have them!

You simply slide this stainless steel hook beneath your vinyl siding to hold items such as barn stars, address or name plaques, seasonal and holiday decorations.

You no longer have to damage your vinyl siding by drilling holes, hanging anchors, nor using adhesives, so you won’t void your siding warranty. They are stainless steel so they won’t rust, nor stain your siding. You can re-position or remove easily at any time without damage. Each holds up to 5-6 lbs.

lowprofile_hook.jpeg The Low profile hook:  Simply roll into any seam of your vinyl sided home. This hook is designed to hang items that have a wire or string for support.

screw_hook.jpeg The Low profile hook with screw:  Simply roll into any seam of your vinyl sided home.  This hook is designed to hang items with holes to mount with Like a House Number Plate. Great for items with keyhole opening on back.

soffit_hook.jpeg The soffit hook:  This hook is designed to hang items from your soffit.  Like wind chimes. Simply roll into any seam of your vinyl soffit.

All three styles come two per package and sell for $5.00  You can finally tell hubby you found a way to hang that barn star you have been wanting!  Now he will have no more excuses.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Will the hook work on my siding?
Answer: The company has tested the hooks on many different types of vinyl siding, so far so good!  Bring it back if it does not work and TMW will refund your money.

Why is there a weight restriction?
Answer: They recommend that nothing more than five pounds be used, due to the possibility of warping or pulling the vinyl on your home.

Cautions:

5lb. Weight Limit Per Hook

Not recommended for children

Not to be used for potted plants

TMW assumes no liability for damage to siding

post Grab Bags….. 04/04/08

April 4th, 2008

grab-bags-2.JPG

Remember grab bags when you were a little kid?  Oh, the thrill of the unknown.  I have been trying to remember where it was that my parents used to take us when we were kids.  It might have been the old Highland Orchards on route 101 inScituate, but I am not sure.

I do remember the great big wooden clown face with the giant mouth that you had to stick your hand into to get your grab bag.  Sounds kind of creepy now, but back then it was way too cool!

So you get your grab bag, then you had to wait until Mom and dad were done with their shopping….. this seemed like an eternity!  You did not dare open it before, but you did shake it, smell it, and of course you had to compare the weight of it with your siblings to see whose was heavier.

Ok, so you managed to hold out until you reached the car (station wagon with the fake wood trim) and after fighting with each other over who sat where, you piled into the car.  Being the tiniest, I usually got stuck in the far back of the car, you know the spot with no seat and of course no seat belts (uh Mom, what were you people thinking?)

It is now time to open that wonderful little brown paper bag to reveal its treasures!  You rip it open and the contents spill out.  Tiny toys, candy pieces and watchamacallits!

We have made up a limited supply of grab bags for the grown up version of that child from yesteryear.  These are always very popular and do sell out quickly.  Better get right in Dawn, Meg, Marie…… Just to name a few of our grab bag addicts!

OH MY GOSH!!!!!!THERE BETTER BE A BUNCH LEFT WHEN WE GET THERE SUNDAY. I CAN’T WAIT !!!!!! I LOVE GRAB BAGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MEG T.

post The works of Folk Artist, Pat Gazaille can now be found at TMW! 03/26/08

March 26th, 2008

Filed under: New Stuff, Featured Artist — Deb @ 12:38 pm

We are very pleased to be carrying Pat Gazaille’s original work.  Pat is a designer for a large folk art company, Collins Painting and Design.  Over the years, we have sold many of the reproduction pieces from that line, so it makes us very proud to now be able to carry her originals too!

Many of you have bought some of her reproduction pieces such as these:

paper-towel.jpeg tissue.jpeg

And now you will be able to purchase her original work to round out your collection.  Here are some photos of the pieces we have.

panel-pic.JPG framed-pic.JPG table.JPG

I asked Pat to give us a little background about herself and her work.  This is what she had to say:

I started out by taking tole painting classes many years ago. I painted occasionally until 18 years ago when I got back into it on a regular basis. I was in the corporate world until Paul and I got married (18 years ago).

Having worked my whole life being home on a regular basis was great. I went through the house and redecorated but when that was done there was nothing to do so I started painting again just for fun. Pretty soon I had painted MANY different things and decided to do a craft show. And that’s where it all began.

Probably in the past 8-10 years is when I started getting into primitive and folk art painting. Even though I took lessons I really feel like I am more of a self taught painter. Painting primitive and folk art is much different than tole painting. I also started with oils and changed to acrylics. Someday I hope to go back to painting with oils.

I paint on wood, canvas, tin, old barn board, paper mache and any other surface I can find. I really like to find unique pieces to paint on. I enjoy looking for old pieces at estate sales, yard sales and flea markets. I paint on old chairs, small tables, picnic baskets, stools. Other items I have painted are bread boxes, canister sets, tissue boxes, lap desk, fireboards and paper towel holders.

Two years ago I was approached by Collins Painting and Design and asked if I would like to join their family of designers. I accepted and it really has been an enjoyable experience. Sometimes when I see my items in a store I still find it hard to believe.

On a personal basis, as mentioned before, Paul and I have been married for 18 years. With the marriage came two wonderful step-daughters and 4 grand-daughters.

Stop in soon to see Pat’s work, you may even run into her here while she is restocking.  You will find her items on the main floor of our shop.

Here is our Lizzy modeling one of the new prim dresses!  These are supposed to be for hanging on the wall or off of a peg rack for decoration, but doesn’t she just look adorable?

I told the girls that these would be our new uniforms, but for some reason they did not think it was going to be a good idea.  Huh…  oh well, you can purchase these for your home or wear them if you so desire.Liz is also holding some pillows made by this new artist.  I found her line at one of the shows this year.  I fell in love with her items.  Here are some pictures of her other things.rocker.JPG sm-chair-w-dresses.JPG

post Hired some new girls today 3/20/08

March 20th, 2008

Filed under: New Stuff — Deb @ 1:10 pm

I am not so sure I should have hired these gals.  They really don’t do very much work, and they just sort of hang around all the time.  I keep trying to motivate them, but all I hear back from them is “Girls just wanna have fun!”

J.K. Just kidding, our doll maker Miss Pam just dropped these little lovelies off today and I had to take their pictures for you to see.  Pam is a wonderful artist and we are very happy to have her dolls here.  She has been making dolls for us for a few years now, but do not delay, these girls get bought up very quickly. Here are a few more shots, they were more than happy to give us a photo shoot.
